A Pinoy Photo Food Blog
Our second day was all about rediscovering Singapore’s culture and heritage. After almost half day of touring China Town, Little India and Kampong Glam, we went straight to Tepak Sireh Restoran to experience some of the best tasting Malay food in Singapore.
The restaurant is just a stone throw away from Istana Kampong Glam fronting a stretch of colorful shophouses. The yellow colored building may look really simple in a glance but if you are viewing it from afar, you would know that it has a colorful past. Entering the beautifully refurbished two-storey restaurant will give you a different perspective, it was totally nostalgic and worth rediscovering.
I really love the idea of restoring an old traditional house to bring its original splendour. Thanks to Professor Madya Yacob who headed the complete restoration of the building before it was opened to the public as a restaurant on Christmas day of 2003. Read the rest of this entry »

8 Jan 2010I visited a friend earlier in DOT Kalaw to give my super late Christmas present. It was still humid although it was already late in the afternoon so I decided to drop by Robinsons Place to have some refreshments. While walking along the Padre Faura wing, I saw a long queue in Razon’s of Guagua – a Kapampangan resto popular for its Halo Halo and Pancit Luglug.
Knowing myself, I don’t really mind long queues specially if it’s for something that I’m craving for. It took me around 20 minutes before I finally reached the cashier, thanks to my iPhone for entertaining me while standing along the busy hallway of the Mall. Read the rest of this entry »

23 Dec 2009This season, Jollibee, the country’s most loved food chain, brings everyone together in joyful merrymaking. The all-time Filipino favorite lets friends and loved ones celebrate Christmas everyday by serving a feast like no other. Sharing stories, memories and affordable langhap-sarap meals under one roof, families and friends need not wait until December 25. Everyone can have an early Christmas because with Jollibee, any day can be Christmas day.
The true spirit of a merry Christmas
As a kid, it is easy to think that Christmas is about presents, aguinaldo and noche buena. But as people get older, these perceptions are trimmed down to one important thing: having the entire family together for one day. People adjust their schedules, making sure that they have freed Christmas Day of any other commitments. And it doesn’t matter much if there are gifts or not, because the mere presence of loved ones is enough to make the holiday celebration complete. After all, it’s the true spirit of having a merry Christmas—above anything else—and it’s a good thing that Jollibee provides a venue for this kind of togetherness. Read the rest of this entry »

15 Dec 2009Wow! After an awesome lunch at The White Rabbit in Dempsey road we tried to burn the calories by walking around the city to checkout Singapore’s newest shopping malls. After an exhilarating urban adventure with lots of new retail discoveries, we found ourselves inside StraitsKitchen – one of the most popular buffet restaurant in Singapore.
Chicken and Beef Satay
Upon entering the restaurant I felt like I was inside a market place that practically offers all the best of local Singapore cuisine all in one roof. Asians loves to eat regardless of the season and in no particular reason – we just love to celebrate by treating ourselves with delicious dishes. Read the rest of this entry »

12 Dec 2009I woke up late since we had a lot of fun in Clark Quay last night visiting one of the coolest party places in the heart of the city. Since its already almost 11am and the hotel breakfast buffet was no longer available, I decided to have my breakfast in Starbucks located in the ground floor of Orchard Parade Hotel.

Spinach-Egg Frittata, Turkey Bacon and Cheese
I know I should have been a little bit adventurous by trying out some fastfood joints within the area but I guess I don’t have the luxury of time since we are scheduled to leave the hotel at exactly 12 noon for our Sentosa Island tour and the ZoukOut 2009 Party in Siloso beach.
