Manos Greek Taverna - Authentic Greek Cuisine in Tagaytay 0

Posted on January 04, 2009 by pinoy.cravings

Tagaytay is a popular destination for its’ unique food offerings and adventure spots. Together with fellow bloggers, we visited Tagaytay last December 26 for our first Tagaytay Food Trip aka Plurk Lakbayan. One of the most interesting restaurant that we visited is Manos Greek Taverna - a Greek restaurant. In the midst of the cold city that sends shivers down your spine, who would have thought that a Greek restaurant was present in this Bulalo country?

I’ve seen this restaurant a lot of times, but I haven’t tried their food since the combination of aegean blue and white paint of the restaurants facade never attracted me, good thing this restaurant was part of our food tour itinerary. To start with, Manos Greek Taverna - a walking distance from Tagaytay rotunda - is a must visit restaurant, with simple structure, painted in typical fashion, beautiful posters of Greece mounted on the walls and empty bottles of a Greek wine brings about a sense of simplicity to each dining table. The restaurant’s interior and exterior design may not be grandiose but they surely offer great tasting Greek foods for a casual and yet unique dining experience. Read the rest of this entry →

Rum Balls @ Lemoni Cafe 0

Posted on January 04, 2009 by pinoy.cravings

After heavy lunch in Gasthof, the rest of my travel buddies went back to the hotel while I decided to walk around D’Mall area to look for a Barber Shop. I found my self sitting not in a barber’s chair but inside Lemoni Cafe waiting for my order. I’m wasn’t really hungry, I wanted to treat my sweet tooth so I ordered five Rum Balls (P25 each).

Osaka Style Okonomiyaki @ Kagura Japanese Restaurant 0

Posted on November 28, 2008 by pinoy.cravings

Outside Japan, Okonomiyaki is described as a Japanese savory pancake but here in Manila we call it a Japanese Pizza. Okonomiyaki in Japan is usually sliced in two but since Pinoy customers tend to associate this dish with Italian Pizza, Kagura Restaurant now serve it in six equally divided slices much like what else? ….. Pizza :)

Unlike Pizza, this favored Japanese dish doesn’t have tomato sauce so it must be more like a Pancake than a Pizza right? haha:) Just try it and enjoy every bite! Read the rest of this entry →

Beef Tapa Breakfast @ Cafe Del Sol Boracay 1

Posted on November 25, 2008 by pinoy.cravings

It was a perfect morning, Imagine the sound of the sea waves and the sight of sunrise kissing your window. I woke up early to witness the islands spectacular sunrise and to not miss the best meal of the day.. Yes its time for Breakfast! The sun is barely up and after taking few photos I immediately looked for a place to eat.

I just love breakfast and It’s probably my favorite meal of the day when I’m traveling — What more if you are in the paradise island like Boracay? It was my last day on the island and definitely that was my last breakfast unless I’ll jump to another restaurant and pretend that I haven’t had my breakfast yet, Who cares anyway? (LOL) During my 3 days and 2 nights food trip in Boracay, I tried as many early-morning breakfast restaurants as I could manage so it was too bad I can only have one breakfast per day since I’m also cutting down my calorie intake. Moroccan Dinner @ Kasbah Boracay 8

Posted on November 19, 2008 by pinoy.cravings

It’s my second night of nothing but pigging out in Boracay. After having delicious Tiger Prawns with Coconut Resotto lunch at Lemoni Cafe, I decided to walk around the white beach area from Station 3 to Station 1 to sweat out and to burn some calories that I gained from two days of food marathon. A photographer’s visit to Boracay is never complete without taking photos of Boracay’s lovely sunset so I passed the time munching on a Chorizo Burger in Station 1 till sundown.

While walking back to Station 2, I passed by Kasbah Restaurant, right next to Discovery Shores. In an attempt to satisfy my curiosity, I walked towards the restaurant to check the Menu and the restaurants ambiance. Upon entering the restaurant, I was welcomed by the restaurants friendly operations manager. I learned that the restaurant was owned by a British national with a Filipina wife who both fell in love with Moroccan Food.

Kasbah means a unique kind of medina, Islamic city, or fortress. A kasbah has high walls which usually have no windows. It is a place where leaders and wealthy people are living. The restaurant just opened last February 24, 2008 and has already been featured on a lot of travel and local inflight magazines.

The cuisine of Morocco is considered one of the world’s most diverse when it comes to the use of flavors and spices. Since Morocco is blessed with large quantities of sheep, poultry, fish and cattle. Combine this with the extensive use of unique spices makes it much easier to understand the uniqueness of Moroccan dishes. Read the rest of this entry →

Posted on November 18, 2008 by pinoy.cravings

It’s almost lunch time and it was just over an hour after finishing a huge Halo Halo from Boracay’s famous Halowich. While completing my pasalubong shopping at D’Mall, I bumped into Tina - my fellow travel writer who now resides in Dubai and currenly in Boracay for a short holiday with her friends so I asked he to reccomend good place to eat since she’s already almost 4 days in the island. She immediately replied “Lemoni Cafe” Knowing her taste, I can say that the restaurant should really be worth recommending.

Delicious Halo Halo with a twist @ Read Bean Halowich Boracay 7

Posted on November 18, 2008 by pinoy.cravings

It’s my second day in Boracay and as you know, I’m not here to party nor to sunbathe but to embarque on a gastronomic adventure in this island paradise. I felt bloated after a huge continental breakfast in Gasthof, it was sunny and since i need to increase my intake of fibrous food, I headed to Halowich for a fruit dessert overload. Halowich opened only last December of 2007 in Boracay’s D’Mall and I first saw this Halo Halo Bar last January 2008 but never made the time to check it out that’s why I made sure to include it in my food tour itinerary this time around.
