It has been 3 days of having a relaxed and exhilarating adventure in Batanes. Now that I’m back in Manila, Batanes will be missed, but It’s good to be back in Manila where a wide variety of food choices are offered. While inside the Seair bound for Manila, I asked Nina if we can drop by in Trinoma to have some coffee, good thing she immediately said Yes!

Kaya Toast Php80.00 ++
After safely arriving in the old Manila Domestic Airport, Nina and I headed to Trinoma to look for a coffee shop. She asked me if I wanted Laksa, How can I say No? It’s my favorite soup and right after hearing the magic words we headed to ToastBox right next to Bread Talk. Read the rest of this entry →

It was a rainy afternoon when I got a craving for “Lumpiang Sariwa” and since I had to print a couple of photos in Hidalgo I took advantage of the opportunity, I grabbed my camera bag and made my way to Quiapo to satisfy my hankering. I didn’t come as a surprised that a hand-full of people were there waiting for their turn to make an order. They ran out of lumpia wrappers and we had to wait for 25 minutes before the line got going again.

Globe’s Lumpiang Sariwa
After 25 minutes of idly waiting, the waiter served my order, two servings of spicy lumpia… Yummy, It was definitely worth the wait. I immediately left the table after gobbling up my meal as a courtesy to the people looking for an empty table.

Definitely better than Goldilocks!
It was a couple of years back when I first learned about this Lumpia house while my uncle shared his version of the glory days of Quiapo back in the 60’s. Globe Lumpia House started with a small kiosk inside the Globe Theater where movie-goers were their primary customers. The restaurant still occupies the same spot at the old Globe Theater entrance even though the theater itself has been long gone. Globe Lumpia House is small and can only accommodate 20 people at a time and the star of the menu is Fresh Lumpia, Empanada, bottled water and soft-drinks. Read the rest of this entry →

After an hour of strolling and shopping, I decided to visit one of my favorite restaurants in Greenhills - Le Ching Tea House. Whenever I visit Greenhills, I always end up eating in Le Ching - a casual Chinese restaurant popular for its bestseller steamed Pork Spareribs.

Le Ching’s Popular Asado Rice - 105 Php
Pork Spareribs is my favorite dish in Le Ching but this time, I ordered Pork Asado for a change. Pork Asado is a famous Tsinoy dish, its a braised pork loin sliced thinly and served on top of the steamed rice (almost two cups of steamed rice).

Freshly Steamed Pork Siomai - 70 Php
I also ordered Siomai, my favorite dimsum in this tea house. Siomai is a popular Chinese dimsum made of ground pork, prawns, corn starch or egg and dumpling wrappers.

Le Ching Shoppesville Greenhills Branch
Few minutes after getting my order, a friendly waiter served the Cola that i ordered together with my favorite Chili garlic sauce and calamansi which is common in most Chinese restaurants. Food was served after a couple of minutes, I immediately grabbed my camera to take photos. Read the rest of this entry →

I’ve been asking a couple of friends to come with me to a burger place I’d been hearing about called Burger Avenue. It’s in a fairly new established mall called A Venue along Makati Ave and since we were already in the area I finally convinced a friend of mine to tag along. We walked a couple of blocks down Makati Avenue till we reached the mall. We had to do a bit of asking when we got there but the place wasn’t hard to find. Its located on the ground floor, situated in a quiet inconspicuous corner.

Ridiculous Burger, Is it?
I wasted no time and barged into the restaurant and immediately scanned the menu looking for the infamous burger this place is known for… the Ridiculous Hamburger named for its ridiculously large portions.

Want it well done?
Aside from the mountainous servings this burger also comes with a challenge. Wanna take a shot at guessing what it’s called?.. It’s called the Ridiculous Challenge! LoL!

Common take a bite!
If you can scarf down the burger in 5 minutes you get your Php240 meal for free!! With freshly grilled all-beef triple patty, sandwiched on an oatmeal bun, laced with crisp lettuce, juicy tomatoes and three slices of cheese this burger does not disappoint!

Huge Potato Fries!
You have to pay for your burger first and inform the cashier that your up for the challenge. The timer starts when you claim the burger. Everything must be eaten and swallowed in 5 minutes or less, absolutely no sharing. Once you’re finished you have to ring the hand bell that will be provided to you by the cashier. You then surrender the receipt and are reimbursed for the cost of your burger. Read the rest of this entry →
