7-Eleven Officially Crowns The First Filipino Gurgitator

Proving that Filipinos will always be a veritable match for any competitive sport, twenty-five eating machines competed recently at 7-Eleven’s Big Bite Match held at the SM Mall of Asia for the glory of being hailed the Philippines’ first Filipino Gurgitator.

Leopoldo Quinto Jr. was officially crowned the country’s first professional eater and brought home a P500,000 cash prize after he went head to head with Kyle de Guzman in a tie-breaker, who now holds second place and won P150,000. In third place is Edwin Duque, in fourth place is John Paul Argoncillo, in fifth place is Alejandro Villarino, in sixth place is Jose Rivera and finally, in seventh place is Domingo Beltrano.

The event was one of the biggest and widest gastronomic competitions ever assembled in Southeast Asia and underscores how this competitive sport is quickly gaining ground in the country.

“Our culture’s natural affinity for food paves the way for this sport to be appreciated both for its novelty and the challenge it presents,” shares Armi Andrade, 7-Eleven’s Food Service Division Manager.
