It was a rainy morning when we visited Miascor Catering in Paranaque with fellow food bloggers and friends from TV and print media to taste the first class onboard culinary offerings of Etihad Airways.
After a couple of security checks, we finally entered the Miascor’s facility – an inflight catering service provider located at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Paranaque City.
I always fly with Philippine Airlines when I go out of the country so I never had the chance to compare different airlines’ onboard food service. In the recent years, Inflight food services for most airlines have suffered due to cost cutting measures and unfortunately food and beverages are first to be slashed according to aviation news.
After listening to Juan Torres (Etihads country manager) presentation, I was amazed on how Etihad and Miascor managed to provide such an extensive choice of food for their passengers.
Etihad Philippines country manager, Juan Torres said: “We want to position our first and business classes as truly premium, differentiating, seamless and personalised. We want to deliver an ‘inspired’ journey from start to finish.”
Etihad Airways, the national airline of the UAE and the only carrier with a fully-flat bed flying out of Manila, announced last week that they have already started offering their new premium class service, “Inspired Service”.
Major highlights of the premium service on-board will include fine dining that offers contemporary European and Arabic cuisine in a-la-carte and kitchen menus, which allow passengers to eat whenever they wish.
This World Class dining experience is also available to Economy passengers, In fact they can choose from these meals: chicken salad pandesal sandwich, grilled eggplant pandesal sandwich, mixed bella olives, tomato and onion quiche, vegetable ratatouille, grilled chicken cheese and mushroom omelette and corned beef hash with garlic rice.
Recently, Etihad Airways has been voted as the airline with the best business class service from the United States to the Middle East by the readers of Business Traveler USA Magazine.
The onboard dining experience in the premium cabins is overseen by Etihad food and beverage managers.
“Etihad’s new F&B managers have a background in the hospitality industry, mostly from five-star dining establishments. Their extensive knowledge of menu composition, presentation and quality will ensure that our onboard dining experience meets the highest standards,” he said.
However the concept also extends to the style of service delivery (crew language and interaction) and the elegant, minimalist glassware, cutlery, crockery and linen.
Etihad Airways is the national airline of the United Arab Emirates based in the UAE’s capital, Abu Dhabi. Currently, Etihad offers flights to 50 destinations in the Middle East, Europe, North America, Africa and Asia.
Abu Dhabi and Dubai is one of my dream destinations, Hopefully I can visit this two beautiful cities one of these days:)
