Breakfast @ Gasthof - Home of Boracay’s Famous Baby Back Ribs
I woke up considerably late due to sleepless nights for the past couple of days prior to leaving for Boracay. Since D’Mall is home to many of the most popular specialty restaurants in the Island, I roamed around D’Mall area to look for breakfast and just after a short walk, I found Gastrof - a beautiful beach front restaurant right at the entrance of D’Mall.

Hungarian Sausage for Breakfast
In the April-May 2004 issue of South East Asian Airlines (SEAIR) inflight magazine, the Gasthof Boracay was listed as one of the 10 best Boracay restaurants according to the locals and islands frequent visitors.
Gastrof is actually a German for guesthouse but the restaurant not only offers authentic german dishes but also Filipino, European and continental dishes. Aside from their famous succulent baby back ribs, they also serve German sausages, Hungarian sausages, grilled seafoods, Australian porterhouse steak, Gasthof chicken barbecue, pork chop, barbecue liempo, pork barbecue (pork tenderloin), freshly baked baguette and various seafood dishes.
I ordered continental breakfast (Php190.00) composed of Hungarian Sausage served with a super sized pancake, 2 eggs - sunny sideup, coffee and fresh mango for dessert.
Gasthof is owned by a German with a Bicolana wife, no wonder I saw Bicolandia’s famous Laing on their menu. Gasthof’s food choices are medium-priced, the menu is served in huge portions and is usually ideal for sharing. The Boracay branch can accommodate 200 guests and it is open 24 hours during peak season and 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. during the low season. Grashof has brances in A Venue Makati and in Legaspi City Albay. When I come back, I will definitely try their Baby Back Ribs.
