It was a perfect morning, Imagine the sound of the sea waves and the sight of sunrise kissing your window. I woke up early to witness the islands spectacular sunrise and to not miss the best meal of the day.. Yes its time for Breakfast! The sun is barely up and after taking few photos I immediately looked for a place to eat.

I just love breakfast and It’s probably my favorite meal of the day when I’m traveling — What more if you are in the paradise island like Boracay? It was my last day on the island and definitely that was my last breakfast unless I’ll jump to another restaurant and pretend that I haven’t had my breakfast yet, Who cares anyway? (LOL) During my 3 days and 2 nights food trip in Boracay, I tried as many early-morning breakfast restaurants as I could manage so it was too bad I can only have one breakfast per day since I’m also cutting down my calorie intake.

Just few blocks away from my hotel, I found myself sitting in an alfresco coffee shop called Cafe del Sol. The restaurant offers not so extensive breakfast menu but since its a Coffee Shop you can find freshly baked cakes, sandwiches and tarts. They also offer Pinoy set meals somilar to what we see on a hotel menu but they are well known for desserts and refreshments like coffee, shakes, pastries and a variety of cheese cakes. While I waited for the Beef Tapa meal (Tapsilog), I indulged in an order of delicious Belgian Waffle with whipped cream and a red cherry on top, a breakfast dish that could easily pass for a perfect dessert.

Cafe del Sol is a subsidiary of Aria, the popular Italian restaurant located in front of the coffee shop. During peak season make sure to secure your seats first before getting your order, the restaurant can get really crowded.

Although Boracay has more than 300 restaurants scattered along the island, I had a hard time looking for a Turo-Turo restaurant like the ones we have here in Manila. For me, the best option is to walk around D’Mall and check out each restaurants breakfast menu and prices. As you might already know, Boracay is still a luxury destination and most of the meals available are pretty expensive. Maybe there are restaurants that offer affordable meals for travelers on a budget. Oh well, Maybe I should go back somethime soon for another gastronomic adventure don’t you think?

To know more about Cafe del Sol, you may call (036) 288-5573. South East Asian Airlines offers the fastest and safest flights to Boracay in just 35 minutes from Manila to Caticlan. For fast and easy Boracay air ticket reservation call SEAIR hotline 02/ 849 0100 or you can book online by visiting www.flyseair.com .
