For busy, globe-trotting sophisticates, everyday meals may be limited to anything that can be ordered to-go. But every once in a while, they crave for exquisitely prepared and presented food, elegant surroundings, attentive service and a glass of fine wine.

To break the monotony in the everyday dining experience of urbanites is the inspiration behind Astralis – a new epicurean landmark in the posh landscape of Rockwell. From the same people behind the rich culinary heritage of Diamond Hotel, Astralis fuses the reasonable price of casual dining with the feel of luxury restaurants topped off with one of the most progressive wine selections in the metro.

“We always strive to make our offerings more accessible to many by being present in major commercial centers,” says Diamond Hotel President Cecile Ang. “We started this by bringing in the acclaimed desserts of the hotel through the Cake Club in Rockwell. And now, we are making our epicurean expertise available to many through Astralis.”

Astralis offers a diverse mix of continental fare starting with a full suit of appetizers like the flavorful Baked Oysters or the exquisite Parisian Scramble Eggs with Foie Gras. Its wide array of salads from the Traditional Caesar Salad to a sophisticated Seared Norwegian Salmon Salad can delight the most discriminating weight-watchers. Bowls of gratifying soups like the Lobster Bisque and the hearty Broccoli Soup also await diners. For the main course, one can choose among a range of Italian dishes, meat and seafood fare. For example, one can go for a plate of the spicy Sato-san’s Japanese Mentaiko Spaghetti, a serving of Pan Grilled Sea Bass, or a helping of Stewed Duck Breast. Sandwiches and tarts are also available for a more relax dining.

Complementing this long list of sumptuous dishes is Astralis’ progressive wine collection. It offers an assortment of award-winning white wines that includes sparkling, blush, dry light to medium intensity, and dry medium to full intensity. Red wine aficionados will also appreciate the dry light to medium intensity and dry medium to full intensity variations of this scarlet drink.

Aside from these, Astralis also offers three different wine flights hailing from some of the best vineyards in the globe. Vignoble des Verdots showcases the versatility and potential of David Fourtout’s winery – a young and upcoming winemaker in Southwest France. In a short span of time, he has produced excellent quality wines earning him the “Best Winemaker of the Year” award during the Bergerac exhibition in 2002.

Lastly, Red Wines from Three Continents showcases that good wines are not exclusive to a certain country by putting together an interesting mix of wines from Chile, France and USA.
