Baked Tahong with Kesong Puti Recipe

The last time i tasted Baked Tahong was last week when i had a lunch meeting with Jessica Zafra at Conti’s in Serendra, Since then I’ve been craving for it.

Good thing there’s a wet market near our place so i decided to prepare one to satisfy my cravings.

Baked Tahong with Kesong Puti is a tender and tasty mussels topped with a garlicky and mouthwatering creamy cheese.

Baked Tahong
Steamed Tahong

Preparation Time: 00:15
Cooking Time: 00:05
Servings: 4-6

Baked Tahong with Kesong Puti Ingredients

1/2 Kilo Tahong
1/4 Cup Butter, softened
1/4 Cup Grated Cheese
5 Cloves Garlic
2 tablespoon Maggi Savor
Kesong Puti (Carabao cottage cheese)

Cooking Procedure:

  1. Prepare mussels by removing half of the shell and cut off beard. Marinate prepared mussels in MAGGI Savor Chili for at least 15 minutes. Set aside.
  2. Mix butter, cheese, and garlic together and beat until creamy. Spread a teaspoon each of the mixture onto each mussel. Put a small cube of Kesong Puti on top of the mussel.
  3. Bake mussels in a preheated 350 degree oven for 5 minutes.

Wow! This dish sounds fabulous. Unfortunately, I don’t know a source for carabao cottage cheese…can I use regular instead?
I lived in the Philippines in Angeles City 1987-88. Miss the food…wouldn’t mind going back someday to visit! My stepmom is Filipina but lives in another state and doesn’t really cook anymore! Too bad for me!

I like baked tahong. But recently I was put on a diet because of high level of cholesterol. I’d like to know if tahong is high in cholesterol and fat. Thank you.

I see that you listed the calories for the whole recipe, but I’ve been searching all over the internet to figure out how many calories are in a serving of Kesong Puti. Do you happen to know?
